Getting over becomes a slalom course through the obstacles, with only some millimetres between bark and bodywork in some places. Crocodiles are an ever-present danger and you should swim solely in those areas designated as croc-safe, within the northern sections of the Park.
The park provides lush monsoon rainforests, magnetic termite mounds, and historic sites and billabongs that replicate the tales of the past. However, the Falls are generally closed for swimming throughout the dry season, aka the ‘tropical summer’ between May-October or during times of serious rainfall. Currents within the pool can are most likely to turn out to be fairly heavy and doubtlessly dangerous. A little more than a hundred kilometers from Darwin, Litchfield National Park is a smaller, more simply accessible mimic of Kakadu National Park.
